Everyone likes to be believed; no one likes being distrusted. There are stories of innocent people languishing in jail because their accounts of events were not believed. Why do mere mortals often feel upset and insulted when their word is not believed but repeatedly doubt and refused God’s offer of salvation?
We often depend on the air pilot and the train driver to bring us to our destinations, the weather forecaster to give us accurate forecasts, historians and history books for evidence, doctors and medical books for precise factual health information. When we use escalators and transport systems little thought is ever paid to the fact that they do break down, car accidents can happen, trains and aeroplanes can crash, weather forecasts are never accurate, many history books have, in some cases, contains distorted facts, and doctors are humans prone to errors.
The fact is this; not believing God, and the sacrifice of His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, is simply implying that God isn’t important enough to be trusted. The book of 1 John 5:10 says, ‘He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son.” Nevertheless, God’s promise of salvation is true.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me (John 14:6). You need faith to believe in God. ‘Without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6).
How to receive God’s salvation?
Sincerely repent of your sin of unbelief. Repentance is acknowledging the sins that are preventing you from coming to Him. Acknowledge that you disobeyed His commandments: you rebelled against Him, lied, stole, cheated, used His name in vain, and committed shameful acts that are weighing you down.
Confess and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. The Bible says, ‘If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved’. (Romans 10:9)
Say to the Lord God that you need His forgiveness, and to cleanse you of your sins with the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Accept Him fully into your heart. Tell Him how much you appreciate His love, that you need Him now, and to take total control of your life and situation, and to help you never to return to your old life no more.
James 4:8 says – Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
- Romans 10:9 states that “if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved’. Just genuinely confess them all to God. Tell God that you need His forgiveness, and to cleanse you with the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
- Accept Him fully into your heart. Tell Him how much you appreciate His love, that you need Him now, and to take total control of your life and situation.
Are you ready to accept Jesus Christ today?
You can personalise the following prayer to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour:
“Dear God, I know I am a sinner and could never make it to heaven by my good works. Right now I come to You in faith, and I place my faith in Your only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, who came into this world and lived a sinless life. He died for my sin, was buried and on the third day rose from the dead to give me eternal life. I want to have a personal relationship with You. Please forgive me of all my sins. I hereby accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour. Come into my heart; be the Lord of my life, and help me to live for You all the days of my life. Thank You, O Lord for accepting me, and for the gift of eternal life.”
