Do you know what sin is like?
Sin is like a cancer that spreads slowly to the soul, unsuspectingly functioning and killing many who are caught in it. The Word of God says “ for the wages of sin is death…” .
You never can teach a child how to tell a lie before they do. Nor do they exhibit anger or disobedience through your input. It’s inborn, inherited, and it naturally starts subtly, slowly roaming its way to permeate the soul before becoming deep-rooted as a stronghold. It is a trait passed down from Adam to us because of his disobedience. It can never be removed by any surgical procedure. No amount of scrubbing with soap and water can wash the stench of sin away. Even the costliest sweet smelling fragrance cannot eliminate its stench. And it is the only thing that separates us from God. Only through the blood of Jesus Christ shed on the cross at Calvary can we be reconciled to Him … “but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Rom 3:23)
Perhaps, you are that fellow who knew deep down to be far away from the calling of God upon your life. You can, like the lost son in Luke 15:11-32, return to God the Father. The word of God says, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” Acts 4:12).
It is only by believing and accepting the Lord Jesus as your Lord and Saviour can you be reconciled to God. Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name (John 1:12).
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in Him will not be put to shame.” (Rom 10:9-11).
No matter what your case may be, the Lord God is waiting for you. He will, with His wide open arms, draw you into His loving embrace.
Jesus is Lord!
