And He gave them their request, but sent leanness into their soul. Psalm 106:15
Gaining revelation from the word of God in Psalm 106:15 at a time when I was in desperate need of an answer to find a way out of a particular life challenge was a “light bulb moment” for me. It opened my eyes to see things from God’s viewpoint. I still sometimes get desperate seeking an immediate answer and a way out of pressing challenges I encountered. However, through the help of the Holy Spirit, I am learning to approach each challenge with a different mindset and attitude. It takes the help of the Holy Spirit to address this attitude.
While I was adamant about having it my own way, the Holy Spirit reminded me of how self-will insistence cost the Israelites their blessings when they continually murmured against God for feeding them only with manna which they later hated. They were still craving for the “meat” they had while in slavery – (Psalm 106:15).
It was the same story when they rejected God and asked for a king to rule over them like the other nations (1 Sam.8-4-22). The Lord made me realise that the Israelites’ insistence on what they craved, prevented them from discovering the best of what He intended for them, and instead, they missed out on God’s blessings.
Through this, I have come to learn that seeking God’s perspective on issues and challenges that confront us will help us to understand the sovereign character of God. He could use any situation or event in our lives to divinely orchestrate His plan to bring His purpose to pass for His glory alone.
There are certain issues that we simply cannot argue with God; He knows best. No amount of questioning and murmuring could get us our way with Him. One must simply rely on His good judgment.
I have learned, and still learning, to seek His perspectives on challenges I encounter. This has greatly helped me in my daily affairs; learning to trust Him. For anyone who may be having a similar experience, Psalm 25:9 tells us that, “The humble He guides in justice, and the humble He teaches His way”. Allow the Lord to guide and teach you.
Remain rooted in the love of Jesus Christ
